May our feet tread softly on our Mother Earth
I wonder what agenda those old King James translators were pursuing when they wrote:
“Blessed are the meek”.
I don’t imagine they were especially meek themselves.
“They shall inherit the earth”, these mythically meek people, those distinguished and almost certainly quite pushy men assure us.
Not altogether realistically…
I prefer the First Nations version:
“Creator’s blessing rests on the ones who walk softly and in a humble manner. The earth, land, and sky will welcome them and always be their home”.
Looking at the devastation caused by the arrogant and aggressive, it would be very wonderful if those male rulers of ours could learn a little humility.
And if we could devise new ways to resist them…
