Poverty of spirit

When the Soviet composer Sofia Gubaidulina was blacklisted by the authorities for writing

"noisy mud instead of musical innovation, unconnected with real life”.

She could no longer get her work performed.

And when people asked her how she survived, she said

“I look up at the sky.”

And she survived.

I must look up more often, I think.
