When I was a child, I was given the message that Jesus was a perfect human being who could do no wrong…
I’m not sure that was a very helpful thing.
Something I am treasuring from this slow journey through Mark’s gospel is the picture that emerges of a remarkable human being with extraordinary gifts - gifts he didn’t really understand and know what to do with.
And someone who wanted to be accepted and loved and valued just like the rest of us.
There’s something very beautiful and moving about all this.
And helpful, too. Because we are groping our way forwards too…
