“We all have a light inside us. And sometimes it’s the very thing we’ve been taught to be most ashamed of.

And if you have a light, do you hide it in a closet?

No! You bring it out into the open, where everyone can see it.

And be glad it exists to shine in the world…”

These lines are from my play “The Gospel According to Jesus Queen Of Heaven”.

It imagines Jesus coming back to earth right now as a trans woman.

I wrote it out of my experience of being ashamed for being trans; but actually it applies to everyone.

I used to think it was a great misfortune to be trans; but over the years I’ve come to be very grateful for it.

It’s given me an amazingly rich experience of life; and helped me greatly to understand it.

I’ve had to overcome a lot of trauma to get here; and so many people have helped and continue to help.

This gives me a lot of hope; and in these times of trauma and hatred it’s important to share that hope.

And that’s really what this newsletter is about.

Because a new and better world is possible; and together we can help create it.

I post on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Wednesday posts are free. They’re my reflections on what is happening generally in the world.

The Saturday posts are more personal. They’re for my observations as I move around the world. They’re for my poems. They’re for my old plays.

Saturday posts are by subscription only. They’ll cost around £52 for the year.

I’ve been writing this newsletter for about a year now. It’s a source of such pleasure. For me: and I hope for you too.
